To undertake risk assemment as part of their role in caring for individuals with mental health needs. Relevant for staff in residential, in-patient and community settings.

Risk is a core element of mental health practice and all staff need to be aware of the risk surrounding them and their service users to create a safe and therapeutic environment.


Aim – This workshop will encourage participants to reflect on their current practice in line with their local policy. We aim to increase participants confidence in identifying risk factors, formulating information and collaboratively creating risk managements plans. We will explore the concept of clinical judgement, risk thresholds and positive risk taking.
